Biography

Pat Carroll grew up on a family farm in southern Ohio and attended Ohio public schools.  She graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, with a degree in biology and studied marine biology at the University of Miami. She moved to Naples in 1975 and began working for Marco Island Marine Ecology Station.  Her career path includes being a biologist for Johnson Engineering and Tri County Engineering, Real Property Management Director for Collier County, commercial real estate expert with John R. Wood and Associates, and business owner of Carroll Environmental Services.  She is currently comptroller for Carroll and Carroll, Inc. 

Pat has been active in many youth-oriented programs.  She served on the Collier County teenage drinking task force.  She has volunteered as church youth director, Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher, and youth coordinator at First United Methodist Church.  She has been a Brownie leader, pack committee chairman of Cub Scout Pack 165, troop committee chairman of Boy Scout Troop 165, and merit badge counselor in the scouting organization.   She has over 1,300 volunteer hours in the local school system.  She has been a Math Superstar teacher, member of the board of directors for Lely High band boosters, and served three years as chairman of the Lely High School Advisory Council (SAC).  She is currently a mentor with Take Stock in Children and serves on the board of directors for Grace Place, a program for children and families in Golden Gate.

Pat has also been involved in the community for over 30 years.  As a member of the Republican Party, she served on the Collier County Executive Committee and was a charter member and treasurer of the Collier County Young Republicans.  She was recognized as an Outstanding Young Republican in the State of Florida.  Pat has served on the March of Dimes board of directors during which time she was Walk America chairman.  She has served as a governor appointee, on the Big Cypress Basin Board, as part of the Southwest Florida Water Management District, and on the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council. 

Pat has served on the EDC Government Affairs Committee, chairman of the Citizens Zoning Re-evaluation Committee, and the Collier County Planning Commission Citizens Advisory Committee.

Pat's involvement with the Collier County Education Foundation has included serving on the board of directors, participating in the Golden Apple selection process, and being on the Connect Now Steering Committee.

Currently, Pat serves on the board of directors for Friends of Rookery Bay and is a member and past president of the Southwest Florida Land Preservation Trust which spearheads the Gordon River Greenway project. 

Pat is a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute and Leadership Florida. Pat is active in the Florida School Boards Association where she is vice chairman of the By-Laws Committee.  She has also served on the legislative and nominating committees.  She has earned the designation of Certified Board Member.  Pat is a past president of the Greater Florida Consortium of School Boards.

Pat is married to Ray Carroll, president of Carroll and Carroll real estate appraisers.  They have two children: Betsy, an MBA graduate of Crummer Graduate Business School in Winter Park, Florida; and Robbie, a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business.  Pat enjoys camping, canoeing and campfire cooking.
