The C.O.R.E. Society is a group of selected students who have shared beliefs for the purpose of bettering the Naples High School community by uniting together against all forms of harmful substances. The C.O.R.E. Society offers fellow students drug free alternatives and the support needed to maintain a healthy and safe lifestyle, with the hope that all students will be responsible drug and alcohol free citizens.

The NHS Envirothon program is part of the Canon Envirothon, an annual competition in which teams compete for recognition and scholarships by demonstrating their knowledge of environmental science and natural resource management. The teams, each consisting of five high school-aged students, exercise their training and problem-solving skills in a competition centered on four universal testing categories (i.e., soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, and wildlife) and a current environmental issue.

NHS Envirothon meets every Monday during lunch in room 3-101 from August through December. Competition begins in early December and continues through March. Lunch meetings are spent learning the hands-on skills necessary for Envirothon. Contact Mrs. Lawson in room 3-101 if you are interested.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

The goal of GSA is to provide a safe environment for both gay and straight students to discuss issues impacting the gay/lesbian community and to remove barriers between straight and gay students. We meet every Thursday during lunch in room 5-120 and regularly have 25+ students in attendance at the meetings.

Junior Civitan is an international organization of community service clubs, designed by Civitan International and supported by the local sponsoring Neapolitan Civitan Club to enhance leadership and community service skills in teens. The Naples Junior Civitan Club is an active and caring group of teens who receive credit for volunteer hours and qualify for Civitan scholarships. They make a difference in our community with their local projects and make a difference around the world with their support of medical research, environmental projects as well as social awareness projects. www.FloridaJuniorCivitan.org

The Junior Statesmen mission is to strengthen American democracy by educating and preparing high school students for life-long involvement and responsible leadership in a democratic society. In the student-run Junior State participants learn statesmanship as they engage in political discourse through weekly club debate forums and at the Fall State Convention. At Winter Congress, in Washington, D.C., students propose and promote their own legislation in House and Senate committees. Through participation in JSA, students cultivate democratic leadership skills, challenge one another to think critically, advocate their own opinions, develop respect for opposing views, and learn to rise above self-interest to promote the public good. Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. What makes Key Club so successful is the fact that it is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities. Today, Key Club exists on more than 5,000 high school campuses, primarily in the United States and Canada.

-- To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and good will.

Mock Trial

The Collier County Mock Trial competition is sponsored by the Collier County Bar Association and the school district and is held during the first weekend in February. Students in grades 9 - 12 may compete as part of a 6 – 8 member team. Naples High attempts to field two teams in the competition. Community attorneys generously volunteer their time to assist in the legal preparation of the teams. Winning teams then compete in a regional competition sponsored by the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court and the winner of that event continues to compete at the State Level. The Collier County Mock Trial Program offers substantial scholarships to the winning students and has been held since 1983. The Mock Trial case can be found at www.flrea.org

Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, current events, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In standard Model UN, students take on roles as diplomats and participate in a simulated session of a intergovernmental organization (IGO). Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.

Dedicated volunteers are committed to fighting cancer in their communities year-round, but once a year, they gather at Relay For Life to celebrate survivors and caregivers, remember loved ones lost and to gain inspiration for the fight.  The Naples High Relay for Life team raises money for the American Cancer Society, which culminates in the Relay event held on April 15, 2011.

Each of the more than 4,800 Relays nationwide is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities to celebrate survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer), remember loved ones and raise money for the fight against cancer. Teams of eight to 15 members gather with tents and sleeping bags with the goal of keeping on person on the track at all times.

Fundraising activities include Dress for the Cure, a GINORMOUS Relay garage sale held in January, Relay nights at participating restaurants, Yankee Candle Sales, outright donations, sales of coupon books, car washes, raffles and sales on the night of Relay.  Come on out and support us at these events, or contact Louise Taylor to get involved!

The Scholar Bowl Team represents Naples High by competing in academic “Jeopardy”-style competitions throughout the year.  Questions are taken from the core subject areas.  Practice is every Friday after school until 3 pm.  Below are the three major competitions that the club participates in:

1. The Collier County Scholar Bowl Tournament has schools compete against each other all year and culminates in a televised top-three teams finals.  6 students from the county will go on to compete in the State Tournament held at Disney World.
2. The Knowledge Master Open is a national competition that takes place twice a year for 2 hours via the computer.  Teams that score high enough qualify to go to Nationals.
3. The A-Team Challenge is a televised single-elimination tournament comprised of 32+ teams from Collier, Lee, and Charlotte counties.

Naples High School's Rocinante Chapter of the Spanish Honor Society was started in 1986. To be eligible, students must have at least a 3.5 GPA in Spanish classes up through the Spanish 3 level and be enrolled in Spanish 4 or Advanced Placement Spanish Language. Students who are native speakers of Spanish must have at least a 3.5 GPA in two Spanish classes and be enrolled in Spanish 4 or Advanced Placement Spanish Language.

The society purpose is to encourage the study of the Spanish language and enhance student appreciation of Hispanic culture.

The Student Government Association represents all students at Naples High School.  S.G.A. provides an opportunity for all students to actively contribute to the academic and social climate of the school campus.

Naples High School encourages students to participate in the governance of the campus community.  One avenue for this participation is through the election of student leaders.  The elected officers of the student body, include each Classes’ President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary.  S.G.A. has open membership in the way of Class Representatives.  Any Naples High School student may represent their class at weekly S.G.A. meetings as a Class Representative however Class Representatives are unable to vote on issues and motions that are presented at meetings. 

S.G.A. meets weekly to discuss and address issues of campus concern.  Unless otherwise noted, weekly meetings are open to all students and other members of the Naples High School community.  All students are encouraged to attend S.G.A.’s weekly meetings, to voice opinions, or to listen and observe.

S.G.A. is conducted by the S.G.A. President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer all of whom are elected by Naples High School students.  The S.G.A. Officers serve as the primary Student Government Association liaisons with the faculty, staff and administration of Naples High School and the greater Naples Community.

Mission statement: “No agenda… just class.”
Specifically:
Students dress up on Tuesdays at Naples High.  Think classy. 
Some suggestions for guys: suits, ties, pressed shirts, dress slacks, sport coats. 
Some suggestions for girls: dresses, suits, blazers, pressed blouses.

Meets 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of month in 4-101 (Mr. Stewart’s room)

Everyone who wishes to be a part of the club needs only to dress up on Tuesdays and attend at least one meeting a month.

The Naples High School Varsity Club’s mission is to promote athletic excellence, good sportsmanship, and character-building relationships among athletes.

Objectives and Activities
-- To support, promote and maintain a high standard of integrity and good sportsmanship in all sports related activities of the high school
-- To use our athletic abilities and experiences to assist younger athletes at school
--Support, interact, and serve as a mentor to current student-athletes
-- Provide students with fun athletic activities during the school year (student-faculty volleyball, basketball, and softball games, and a ping pong tournament)
-- Sponsor and manage the Naples High School Athletics Wall of Fame
