• On January 10, 2012, the School Board approved a school calendar that has a school start date of August 13, 2012. This calendar is dependent upon the passage of Sen. Bill Montford's (D-Tallahassee) bill proposal that would give local school boards the authority to set an opening date for schools. If this bill is not passed, the School Board also approved a second calendar that has a school start date of August 20, 2012.
  Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kamela Patton, has requested parents postpone scheduling vacations until the district knows the results of the legislative session, sometime after March 9, 2012
